Trapped in Limbo

23 Jul

Hello!  Wow, long time without a blog update. Gonna have to change that. I’ve got a bunch of new music going, and am doing a show next week that I’m sure I’ll get to talk about too!  In the meantime, I wanted to share a little bit about a videogame I played.

First of all, I decided to switch from “Video Game” to “Videogame.” If that seems like a small distinction, allow me to assure you that it is not – it has been the subject of quite a bit of debate. All in all, I think I like the switch.

So yeah, Limbo. I played it in one sitting and then wrote a review for Paste. I think it’s the best review I’ve written, both in that it gives the highest score I’ve given a game and in that it’s my actual favorite. I didn’t write about the specifics of the game (i.e. “The physics engine is spectacular, and the puzzles are well-designed”), because Limbo was so flippin’ fantastic and singular that specific analysis felt beside the point. Not that there isn’t a whole lot to say about it.

So yeah, check my review out! And if you have access to an Xbox, wrest the controller from whomever is usually holding it and download this game. It’s only $15 online, and it’s way more worth your time and money than, say, Inception is.

You don’t even have to take my word for it… watch this video and tell me you don’t want to see more:

Completely agreed. Limbo is a great game and a piece of art. Great review by the way.

Cool! Really glad you liked the game – it’s such a thing.
